Stabio, Switzerland (April 17, 2025) – Ahhhh the tale of Doobie, once a humble skateboarder from a small French village, now king of the high seas with his own colourway of the Vans Skate Old Skool. But this isn’t just any Old Skool; this is the mythical Doobie Skate Old Skool Net, a new take on the classic skate staple.
Much like the man that bares them, there is more to this shoe than meets the eye, featuring a unique mesh stash pocket in the tongue to secure your ‘treasures’, a water-resistant hairy suede for when things get a bit rocky, heavy-duty laces and beefed up 10oz canvas side panels to make em’ as durable as your old wading boots. All that adorned with an embroidered Sidestripe and custom footbed designed by the equally legendary Todd Francis, this really is the stuff of folklore. And let’s not even get started on the absurd run of good fortune Doobie enjoyed following that fateful date when he first reeled them in.
A not so ordinary shoe for a not so ordinary man of course needs a not so ordinary campaign. Directed by Jack Lammas and Ed Hubert and Produced by Control Tower Productions, this mysterious tale was shot on location in an unsuspecting sleepy Cornish fishing town. Doobie was joined by his friends Harry Lintell, Helena Long, Notis Aggelis, Max Pack, Merryn Garner and Michael Boardman who all have cameos in the campaign video.
The Doobie Skate Old Skool Net is a monumental achievement for Doobie, known only to the authorities as Victor Pellegrin, who’s been on Vans for the last 15 years. Originally residing in Lyon, Doobie recently followed his heart and his fishing rod and settled down in Helsinki, Finland. As passionate about fishing as he is skating, he’s the living, breathing ‘fired up’ embodiment of the Old Skool. Witness Doobie and the way he likes to roll in his Thrasher Cold Call – out tomorrow – shot in Athens during our Vans Shop Riot debauchery.
The Doobie Skate Old Skool Net will be available at select European skate shops and on Vans.eu on April 24th.
