14 years is a long time. That’s 78 in dog years. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but that’s bullshit.

Shop Riot 2024 is back and we’re teaching that old boy some new tricks.

Like us, you’re probably not the biggest fan of rules. So we don’t have many. Just the necessary ones like ‘don’t hurt someone’ or ‘don’t cause an actual riot’ kinda thing. But we do have one important one and we think you’ll appreciate it – each shop team needs to have at least 2 genders on the squad, with a maximum of 4 skaters.

For the qualifying event, there will be two areas of competition – the Team Contest & Team Challenges.

The original Vans concept celebrates Europe’s best skate stores and provides an authentic platform for recognition and community for the core skate scene and the best skate store riders from across Europe.

An essential part of the Vans Shop Riot format is the regional qualifications. The Vans Shop Riot will take place on August 31st at the FREESTYLE HALLE ZÜRICH. In addition, we will be holding a pre-event with a skate session & BBQ at BEAST on Friday, August 30th.

14 stores will compete for a place in the grand final on Skate Shop Day 2025. One of the biggest innovations in the 2024 competition is the judging method, with two areas of the competition – Team Contest and Team Challenges.

Things like tricks, creativity and team performance will be judged – the stores will have two runs of two minutes each. The best score from both runs wins. The combined points from the Team Contest and Team Challenges will determine the winner, who will secure a place at the Vans Shop Riot Final 2025.
